Visiting Uncle Chris in his Swiss cabin!

Vacation time is upon and we decide to fly over to Chamonix in the French alps to spend the week with my old friend Diane and 20 of her closest friends in a ski chalet! We decide since we fly into Geneva that we will first take the opportunity to visit Chris in his little ski cabin the Switzerland.

The weather is a bit stormy when we get there but we make it with no mishaps. The cabin itself is gorgous.
Really cozy and inviting and Chris has cooked us a fabulous 4 course meal in the French/Swiss way. We are impressed. Skye even sleeps the whole night (oh - except for the 30 minutes when she cries her eyes out, but we don't hear her so this doesn't count ;-) )

After a good nights rest (for most of us - sorry about the crying Chris!), we are served a lovely breakfast before the boys head out to clear the road of snow. At lunchtime Chris takes us up to the local ski resort for some lunch. After a cable car ride up the mountain, we arrive at the top to a virtual blizzard! We manage to enjoy a nice lunch up there and they even have a high chair for Skye which makes life a lot easier! If only they were so child-friendly here at the US resorts!

After we get down to the town, we have a wander around the shops then head home. Jet lag hits Skye and she starts snoring loudly on my back in the backpack.

The next day we leave to drive back to Geneva for our transfer to Chamonix. It was great to see Chris in his new home in Switzerland. I'd definitely love to go back in the summer as I'm sure it's really beautiful then too! Hopefully Hester will also be there the next time we visit.

Skye's 1st birthday party

After along delay I'm finally getting around to creating more posts!

Almost a month has passed since Skye's birthday party and it almost seems like a distant memory, but here are a few highlights.

We decide to have a little party for Skye and invite a 'few' friends around. There end up being about 10 kids under two at the party!! The noise level is high, but mainly that's from the adults who are busy guzzling, beer, wine and champagne whilst the kids play with all of Skye's toys. All the kids leave with a little goodie bag containing a false nose, glasses and eyebrow combo amongst other things.
