Skye turns ONE!!!

I can quite believe that we all made it one year with not too many mishaps! The year has flown by, yet so much has happened. Skye has changed from a tiny little helpless creature to a little mischevious wee rascal!

To celebrate her birthday, I first took her to the doctors for her checkup and shots! Poor wee thing. Grandma Larsen was with me as she had come out for a few days so she could be at Skye's 1st birthday party which was to happen on the Saturday.

After the doctors checkup (which Skye passed with flying colors) , we headed to Striderite in San Mateo to buy Skye her first pair of shoes. The shop was really cute and had little toys everywhere. Skye took a liking to a little piano so of course Grandma bought it for her! We also bought a perfect pair of shoes which she'll wear in France next week!

After this, we headed to the Bay Area Discovery Museum at Fort Baker in Saucelito. I used to volunteer for them a few years earlier so it was nice to be able to go back with Skye in tow! It was a beautiful day and the views of San Francisco from the Bay were spectacular.

Here is a photo of Grandma Angie and Skye outside of the museum:

We have some lunch in the little cafe then head over to the 'Tot Spot' which is an are exclusively for under-3's. The first room we go into has soft cushie areas where the kids can crawl. Skye is all over the place and seems to be enjoying herself exploring!

Skye's exlores the Tot Spot!

The next room has structures Skye can crawl through and in to and lots of blocks and toys to play with.

In no time she is exloring once again!

Then we head outside to the 'river'. Skye takes a liking to the salmon which undoubtedly remind her of her daddy!

Skye and Grandma Angie 'fishing' outside!

By the end of the day we are all knackered and we head home. By 8pm both Skye and Angie are asleep, but I last a few more hours ;-)

Valentine Massacre!

So much for a romantic Valentines dinner!

I
had planned on having a nice little dinner with Skye as John was at work. What was I thinking?! I prepared Skye some lasagne and baby carrots soaked in orange juice. She loved the lasagne but blew raspberries with the carrots at me! For dessert she had bananas and berries with apples and chocolate sauce. Of course she loved this and ate it all up leaving a lovely mess all over her wee face. She was NOT looking her best after this meal, but I thought it was time for a photo of us both on our first Valentines dinner together. I set up the camera on self-timer and give her a flower to hold. Here is the first photo:

As you can see the Skye's hand is covering her face and I'm also almost cut out of the picture so I decide to try again.

Well maybe I shouldn't have made a 2nd attempt. Whilst re-setting the camera Skye ate the flower!! And maybe her hand covering her face in the first photo was a good thing!! She looks pretty happy though :-)

All in all a nice little valentines dinner together...but it did take all night to clean up the mess!

A beautiful day on the coast!

It's a beautiful day on the coast so we decide to run out to the beach and let Tommy frolick in the sand and sea! He has a great time with the other dogs and is in and out of the water most of the time.

John and the dogs!

Tommy frolicking inthe
water.

We had jogged down with Skye in the stroller, but decided that she too should get to e
njoy the thrill of being at the beach...

Here she is sunning
herself on a rock...

A happier
Skye crawling in the sand!

And playing with the sand...

Paddling in the water!

Daddy reads Skye a story after a hard day at the beach.

Ahh, life is good on the coast!

Logan's 1st birthday

A week ago we were honored to be invited to Logan's 1st birthday party! What a lovely time we had. All the kids played together and got to eat cake and wear silly hats. They also got a 'bubble' show.

Skye was mesmerised by the bubbles and oohed and aahed at them!

Here is a photo of Logan with his mom Renae:

And here we are later that night at sunset on our deck.

An let's not forget about Daddy!

Skiing in Tahoe

Last weekend I went on an adventure to Lake Tahoe! I was all ready to go to bed on the Friday night, when lo and behold I was put into my carseat in mummy's car instead! I immediately fell asleep though as I was really tired. The next thing I know it's morning and I'm in a strange place! A big cabin with lots of new things to investigate. We are a happy family of Mummy, Daddy, Tommy and myself. After a leisurely morning, I get dressed in my cool ski gear and we head out to Northstar which is a ski resort close by. I'm upset cos I don't get to ski or play in the snow, but Mummy and Daddy take turns to ski and I play in the kids playroom. We go for a ride in a gondola and I look out of the window at all of the big snowy mountains!

Here is a photo
of me doing apres-ski at a warming hut at Northstar as we waited for Daddy to finish skiing:

The next day we decided to go on a backcountry tour up Pole Creek near Squaw Valley. Tommy was sooo happy that he was going to go out for a big walk in the snow! I was put into a backpack carrier on Mummy's back and off we went! I was not feeling too good today, but was quite happy to be snug and warm against Mummy'
s back. She also put some handwarmers in beside my feet so they felt quite toasty!

Here I am being carried by Mummy:

I am asleep for quite a long time, then when I waken up it's t
ime for lunch! Yippee!

Daddy and I enjoying our lunch!

Mummy wants a photo with me too!

Now it's Daddy's turn to ski back down the path with me.

Here we are setting off...

Daddy skied quite fast down the hill and I really enjoyed it! Tommy tried to keep up but Mummy was soon lef t behind and we had to wait for her. She said she was enjoying the views but we knew that she was just slow. At one point I was amazed to see her appear as if like magic skiing through the trees! It was great fun! I hope we get to do it again soon!

ps. Later on Mummy told me that the only reason she was skiing slowly was because she had a bet on with Daddy as to how long it would take to get back to the car. He thought it would only take 20 minutes, whereas she thought 40 minutes. Luckily it took about 30 minutes so they were both happy!
